Preclinical MRI

The preclinical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility at the University of British Columbia has been serving the preclinical animal imaging needs of the local research community and beyond, since 2005.  Our main instrument is a 9.4 Tesla MRI scanner at the Centre for Comparative Medicine, fully operational since 2022.  Previous work has been performed on our 7 Tesla MRI system at the Life Sciences Centre.

We are a cost-recovery imaging resource that aims to meet the needs of both academic researchers and biomedical industry clients. Our services start with study inception, through to technical development and image acquisition, and end with assistance with data analysis and final report/manuscript preparation.
